China Glaze - Lite Brites - Summer 2016

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  I know, SUPER late with this post....so I'm just going to get straight to it.  Y'all have probably already seen these polishes by now, but I had to just go ahead & get this up.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch

This collection of 12 polishes has that 80's vibe with a range of finishes.  I definitely have some favorites here.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch whip it good
Whip It Good -  2 coats - Banana yellow creme - It almost looks like my camera washes this out, but it really is a bright, yet pastel, yellow.  I'm unsure how I feel about this one.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch lime after lime

china glaze lite brites collection swatch lime after lime
Lime After Lime - 2 coats - Neon lime creme - I would say this is more pastel neon lime.  Pretty awesome, and a great base if you're going to wear glow in the dark polish.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch none of your risky business

china glaze lite brites collection swatch none of your risky business
None Of Your Risky Business - 2 coats - Tangerine creme - Think road cone orange pastel.  That's what comes to mind with this shade.  It's a little more yellow/orange than red.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch i'll pink to that

china glaze lite brites collection swatch i'll pink to that
I'll Pink To That - 2 coats - Neon fuchsia creme - Super bright Barbie pink cream.  I probably have other shades just like this.....but I bet if I put them up against each other there would definitely be a difference.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch hot flash

china glaze lite brites collection swatch hot flash
Hot Flash - 2 coats - Crimson shimmer -  To me, this is like a coral-y red cream.  The press release says this is a shimmer, but I see absolutely zero shimmer in the bottle they sent me.  I even checked the bottle that I'd purchased(before I knew I was getting samples) and it doesn't have shimmer either.  Anyone else have shimmer in theirs? Maybe it's so subtle that I'm not seeing it.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch i got a blue attitude

china glaze lite brites collection swatch i got a blue attitude
I Got A Blue Attitude - 2 coats - Deep blue-violet creme - I agree with the blue violet part.  As I'm typing this post at 2am & can barely see the screen it looks like this is pulling more blue than purple...but I notated it as purple with a super subtle blue shimmer.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch lip smackin good

china glaze lite brites collection swatch lip smackin good
Lip Smackin' Good - 2 coats - Bubblicious neon pink creme - On the nail this looks like a neon pastel pink with a pink shimmer, and in the bottle the shimmer looks silver as you can see in the first shot.  Even though the press release says nothing about shimmer....who knows.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch bite me

china glaze lite brites collection swatch bite me
Bite Me - 2 coats - Fluorescent watermelon creme - To me, this is more bubblegum pink with a golden orange shimmer.  You can definitely see the shimmer in this one....or is it just me?

china glaze lite brites collection swatch let's jam

china glaze lite brites collection swatch let's jam
Let's Jam - 2 coats - Shimmering orchid - YAY!  We finally agree that this has shimmer.  I wrote down dusty lavender with a purple blue shimmer, but their description works too.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch what i like about blue

china glaze lite brites collection swatch what i like about blue
What I Like About Blue - 2 coats - sky blue shimmer - To me, it's a robin's egg blue with a silver champagne shimmer.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch papa don't peach

china glaze lite brites collection swatch papa don't peach
Papa Don't Peach - 3 coats - coral peach with iridescent copper glitter - This is like Riveting's peach sister.  Riveting made me LOVE orange and this just fits right in.  It's kinda jelly so it needed 3 coats, but I will definitely wear this again & again.  So glad that I have a backup, because I don't have one for Riveting and I'm always afraid to use it up.

china glaze lite brites collection swatch we got the beet

china glaze lite brites collection swatch we got the beet
We Got The Beet - 3 coats - grape with iridescent copper shimmer - I think this one would have been more aptly named Let's Jam.  Like Papa Don't Peach, this acts like a jelly with flakies, so it needed 3 coats.

I honestly have too many fav's in this one and I'm so thankful that I have backup's of a few.  Which are your fav's from this one?

Atlanta Nail Meetup - Springy Floral Nails & Haul

Hey y'all!  It's been about a year since the last Atlanta Nail Meetup & a few weeks ago we met for lunch and polish shopping.  Since then I've only purchased a few polishes, so I decided to splurge a little. And this year we had more ladies attend the fun!

atlanta nail meetup haul

We met up for lunch at a little Mexican restaurant, swapped some polishes we wanted to destash, chatted, and had a blast.  Even better is that we're all polish addicts so we all had some beautiful mani's to share.  This is mine....

I kinda winged this & while I wasn't happy with it at first, I'm really starting to love it.  I got so many complements on it too, so I'm glad that I kept it instead of starting over.

The base is a gradient of Fresh Paint Guava and China Glaze Aquadelic (which is also the base on the accent nail). The stem of the flowers is Fresh Paint #Winning.  The flowers are Fresh Paint Honeydew with Color Club Not-So-Mellow Yellow in the center.

The dots on the accent nail are everything except #Winning.  I'm completely obsessed with peaches & aqua shades right now.  And Guava seems kinda washed out in these pictures, this mani is actually a bit more bright in person.

After lunch we scooted over to a local nail supply store and had some fun. I could have done way more damage than I did, but some of the things I had on my list were out of stock. I actually had to keep reminding myself that I didn't NEED everything I was wanting to toss into my basket. Here's what I got...

spring floral nails atlanta nail meetup haul
  • Brushes - because they always come in handy to clean under your nails...and even better when hands get really dirty.
  • #14 Kolinsky brushes with a dotting tool on the end - The one I bought last year is still going strong as a clean-up brush and I thought it would be smart to get a few backups. SO much better, IMO than the $1 ELF brushes that seem to not even last through one use.
  • Polishes (L to R) - China Glaze Hot Flash, Color Club Wham! Pow!, Color Club Port-folio, China Glaze Bite Me, China Glaze Papa Don't Preach, China Glaze My Way Or The Highway

Even though I had some anxiety issues, and traffic was HORRIBLE on the way back, I had a blast.  No, seriously, it took me 50 minutes to get there and over 90 to get home. I'm excited to play with my new pretties & I can't wait for the next meetup.

Tie Dye Revolution Non-water Marble & Blobbicure

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  While I was swatching the Tie Dye Revolution Collection from Finger Paints I was drawing a complete blank on what type of nail art design to do with them.  The most expected thing would be, of course, to do tie dye.  Instead I went in a different direction, and this is what I came up with.

I immediately thought of doing a blobbicure.  However, not having done one before I was a bit intimidated.  Instead I went with that as the accent nail & discovered that it wasn't nearly as difficult as I'd made it out to be.

For the other nails, I basically used the same technique, which is also used in waterless marbles, before swirling the blobs of polish around with my dotting tool.

I used a white base, applied 1 coat & let it dry before applying a much thicker coat.  Then added the blobs.

Index: Be Hippy & Far Out Fuschia
Middle: Tie Dye Tangerine & Yellow Out Man
Ring: All 5 shades
Pinky: Far Out Fuschia & Peace, Love, & Green

The ring finger kinda reminds me of this new game on Agar.io that the kiddo has been playing.  What do y'all think?

Finger Paints Tie Dye Revolution Collection

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  Today I have the groovy new collection from Finger Paints.  This collection is made up of one core color, Paper Mache (a white), and 5 far out colors to wear alone or together create the perfect tie dye nail art.

Before I get to the swatches, I have to praise the formula on these.  They're SO easy to work with.  In fact, I usually have a few bubbles if I accidentally apply too thick of a coat.  NOT with these.  That goes a LONG way with me.  They were pretty easy to clean up as well.  So lets get to the swatches.

Yellow Out Man - 2 coats - A muted, yet also bright, buttery yellow cream.

Peace, Love, & Green - 3 coats - I could describe this 2 ways....a parakeet green or slime green. The formula on this is more of a crelly (cream/jelly hybrid) than just a cream.  I can still see some of the nail line under 3 coats.

Tie Dye Tangerine - 2 coats - This orange cream is a bold tangerine, it almost reminds me of the shade of orange Yellow Freight(or YRC as they're now known) uses.

Be Hippy - 2 coats - This blue is that ocean/beachy shade that I love SO much.

Far Out Fuschia - 2 coats - This fuschia cream is one of my fav's.  Not too bright, but the perfect shade of pink.

These are currently available at Sally Beauty Supply & I highly recommend them.  I have an upcoming post using these in a nail art design, so keep an eye out for that. :D

Color Club Not-So-Mellow Yellow & stamping

Hey y'all!  If you happened to catch my recent post from the Atlanta Nail Meetup, then you'll have seen this in the haul.  Not-So-Mellow Yellow was part of last years Poptastic collection.  In order to keep this short and simple I'm going to get right to it.  So, keep reading for more info, swatches, and some stamping.

I wore this mani recently and my kid LOVED it.  I think because this is his favorite color & he has some shirts that match.

color club poptastic not so mellow yellow
I only needed 2 coats for this opacity and no white base under.
color club poptastic not so mellow yellow
Not-So-Mellow Yellow is a bright yellow/green with a golden shimmer.  When held next to something green, it appears more green.  When next to something yellow, more yellow.

I felt like I needed sunglasses when I was editing these pictures because it was SO bright.

Then I wanted to do some stamping, using my new BPS plate I'd just picked up BP-L006.  I was having issues getting the images onto my nail so I made a decal using Bundle Monster Royal Blue stamping polish and the base color, NSMY.

The decal made everything SO much easier, but because of the yellow and blue the design appeared more green than blue.  Which was totally fine & it still looked great.

I can't wait to play with the other shades I picked up from this collection.  Do you have any of them?
