Zoya - Seashells Pixie Dust Collection - Summer 2016

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  Today I have the last collection that I received during my blogging hiatus & wanted to share it with y'all.  I know it's late, but better late than never.  This is the Seashells collection that was released over the summer.

I only needed 2 coats for all of these, and since they're pixie dusts I didn't use a top coat.  They always dry pretty quickly too.

Tilly - Can be best described as a starry grey with small holographic glitter interwoven with a darker gunmetal - It's so sparkly that the camera didn't really want to pick it up.  The gunmetal glitters look almost blue.  My favorite out of the collection.

Levi - Can be best described as a beige gold with medium holographic hex glitter - I totally didn't expect to like this as much as I did, but I think the holo sparkle in it won me over.

Zooey - Can be best described as a classic pink laced with gold & medium hex holo glitters - It's like a tulip pink with a dash of gold glitter.  So pretty.

zoya cece seashells pixie dust review swatches

zoya cece seashells pixie dust review swatches
Cece - Can be best described as a full impact green with a thin vein of gold - The depth of green in this looks like there's multiple shades and the gold just adds to it.

Linds - Can be best described as a cherry red with red and fuchsia glitters - I noticed a slight bit of gold in this too that doesn't seem to translate too much onto the nail.  This one also looks kinda wet even when it's dry.  Definitely a winner.

Bay - Can be best described as a sky blue with fine silver and gold glitter - This blue is frosty, and reminds me of Frozen.

While I liked all of these, even though I'm not really THAT huge of a fan of texture, these shades give off more Winter vibes than they do Summer vibes.  Is it just me?

These are currently available on Zoya.com for $10ea.

Navy & Turquoise Marble with 18k Gold Glitter

Hey y'all!  So I recently saw THIS video from@Laqvid (Instagram) for a gorgeous mani & was kinda inspired.  I, of course, went with different colors and techniques, but I wanted to share the inspiration for this because she does some beautiful work.

If you saw this recent instagram post, you'll know kinda how I did this.

A photo posted by Harri (@trailerhoodchic) on

I used my Uber Chic Beauty Mat and made some decals.  I had to let them dry overnight, though when I did a few the next day I just waited a few hours and it was fine.

For the decal I used all China Glaze shades....First Mate, I Sea The Point, DJ Blue My Mind, and Rain Dance The Night Away.

I used Laqvid's method of putting the polishes down, but then I used a tiny nail art brush to randomly swirl it all around.  It was a little difficult to apply the decals due to my nail shape, but I used a silicone tool from BPS and it wasn't so bad. The ones that had dried longer were more annoying than the fresher ones.

For the accent nails, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do.  Originally I thought ombre, but once I applied Rain Dance The Night Away it was really too pretty to mess with.  So I just pulled out my unused bottle of Sephora by OPI Real 18k Gold top coat out & brushed a layer on, then dabbed more on with a makeup sponge.

I really like how it turned out and definitely plan to do more of these in the future as it's way easier for me than trying to water marble.

I just did these 2 days ago and I definitely do NOT want to ever remove them.

Star Wars Christmas Mashup Mani

Happy Christmas Eve y'all!!!  So, the kiddo doesn't know it yet, but tomorrow night(Christmas Day) we are going to see the latest Star Wars movie, so NO SPOILERS PLEASE.  Because of that, I wanted to do a Star Wars & Christmas mashup on my nails.  He watched me do my nails, and LOVED them, and still has no idea.

Now while I'm still not 100% happy with them, I do love them.  I guess it's the perfectionist in me & knowing that I can do better. They were pretty easy to do and I'll link the tutorials for where I got the inspiration on each of these from.

I used a LONG list of polishes, so I'll be sure to list everything down below as well.

For the lightsabers, my inspiration came from a recent video by Simply Nailogical, which you can see HERE. Though the only acrylic paint I used was the white, I did use polishes to paint over the white....because HOLO!

Blue Lightsaber: Wet N Wild Black Creme, Color Club Blue Heaven, & Revlon Royal

Green Lightsaber: Wet N Wild Black Creme, Nubar Reclaim, & Verity B24 Aqua Blue

Red Lightsaber: Wet N Wild Black Creme, ILNP Very Ornamental, & Wet N Wild I Red A Good Book

Christmas tree accent: China Glaze Angel Wings, ILNP A Fresh Evergreen, & stars from Salon Perfect Star Spangled. Tutorial can be found HERE!

I took this shot outside with my cell phone using the flash.  Because we're having crappy weather, and I finished late at night, it was dark outside & I knew I wouldn't be able to get a full sun pic.
About the only thing I would do differently is maybe not use holo for the sabers? or use a glow in the dark over the white.  What do y'all think?

China Glaze - Cheers - Holiday 2015

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  Today I have the Holiday collection to show you from China Glaze.  While I know my post is a little late, hopefully this will serve as a reminder or suggestions for last minute gifts!

There's a good mixture of finishes & shades with this collection.  I definitely have a few favorites!  As usual, I used Seche Vite as my top coat. There's a TON of pics, so lets get to it.....

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches mix and mingle

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches mix and mingle
Mix and Mingle - 3 coats - Vivid deep purple creme. This acts more like a crelly (creamy jelly) and almost reminds me of Barney purple.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches son of a nutcracker

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches son of a nutcracker
Son Of A Nutcracker - 2 coats - Fiery red-orange pearl.  This almost looks a more pink toned coral. It's one of my fav's...and the name cracks me up too.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches wine down for what

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches wine down for what
Wine Down For What? - 2 coats - Rich red creme. Definitely a wine/merlot/oxblood type shade & another of my fav's.  Of course the name on this one is #winning too.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches peppermint to be

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches peppermint to be
Peppermint To Be - 2 coats - Glittering Ruby shimmer.  While I didn't compare this to Ruby Pumps, I think this is more pink/red than the true red that Ruby Pumps is.  I also think the shimmer on this one is smaller.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches dont get elfed up

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches dont get elfed up
Don't Get Elfed Up - 2 coats - Glistening deep emerald shimmer.  In the pictures, this appears to be a blackened blue base with a blue/teal shifty shimmer.  In the bottle it looks blue/purple, but the purple only appears on the nail when it's not being hit by direct light.  So, it does show up, just not in any pictures I could capture it in.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches ugly sweater party

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches ugly sweater party
Ugly Sweater Party - 3 coats - Multi-dimensional red glitter.  This seemed more red than pink to me, and the base to this was pink tinged as well.  I couldn't quite tell if the larger glitters were purple or holo. On my laptop monitor(as I'm typing this) they look blue.  So, I'm guessing holo?

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches i soiree i didnt do it

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches i soiree i didnt do it
I Soiree I Didn't Do It - 3 coats - Bright and cheery green glitter.  It looks more teal to me & was super difficult to photograph, almost like it's pixelated.  Some of the glitters in this look holo, but they're all too small to tell for sure.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches better not pout

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches better not pout
Better Not Pout - 2 coats - Merry berry pearl.  It's like a deep pink berry metallic.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches brand spankin new year mix and mingle

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches brand spankin new year mix and mingle
Brand Spankin' New Year - 1 coat over Mix And Mingle - Deep prismatic purple glitter.  Purple jelly base with purple & holo glitters.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches coal hands warm heart peppermint to be

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches coal hands warm heart peppermint to be
Coal Hands, Warm Heart - 1 coat layered & sponged over Peppermint To Be - Midnight blue holographic glitter. I didn't, and kinda still don't, see "blue" in this....I see more black with holo & purple glitter.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches bring on the bubbly better not pout

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches bring on the bubbly better not pout
Bring On The Bubbly - 1 coat over Better Not Pout - Gleaming gold glitter.  Gold & holo glitters in a clear base.  No issues with application of these.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches break the ice dont get elfed up

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches break the ice dont get elfed up
Break The Ice - 1 coat over Don't Get Elfed Up - Icy prismatic silver glitter.  This is a clear base with holo glitters and shards.

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches wine down for what i soiree i didnt do it

china glaze cheers holiday review swatches wine down for what i soiree i didnt do it
Bonus: I Soiree I Didn't Do It sponged over Wine Down For What?  I had to do this color combo as soon as I saw these 2 shades.  I would've done this as a separate post, but thought I'd throw it on here as a bonus!

I had zero issues with any of these polishes.  Though, I'd definitely suggest layering for ALL of the glitters.  Otherwise you're just going to end up with several layers for opacity.  Make sure to check below for more info on this collection!  :D
