Birthday Stuffs

I didn't really advertise it, but this past Friday was my birthday.  It was kind of a chill weekend spent with some friends and a little bit of shopping.  If you follow me on Instagram, you may or may not have already seen some of these pics.

Thursday I had to go ahead & do the dreaded "renewing of the license".  Thankfully it was quite painless since new state laws requiring tons of paperwork.  I've never had a name change, so I didn't have to bring a lot with me.  After that, I stopped by Target & Sally's and picked up a few things.

I was totally out of stuff to color my hair with and wanted to try a few other things.  I was also lucky enough to snag Orly Sparkling Garbage off the clearance rack at Sally's.

I also received my very first Ipsy bag, which I'll do a separate post/review/thoughts on later.
Friday morning I woke up to my kiddo running in to tell me Happy Birthday before he left for school.  Since I had no plans, I showered and stayed in jammies ALL DAY LONG.  Just because I could.

Later that evening, I did my nails then I was summoned to my neighbors house for gifts from them, which were unexpected and WONDERFUL.  I couldn't believe she sneaked Krispy Kreme's into her house without my seeing or even smelling when I went over earlier in the afternoon.

It was a very chill day.  So, Saturday the kiddo went and picked out a present for me while I was using one of my Ulta GC's above.  He got me a pillow pet, and I picked out some NYX goodies....the lipliner I got wasn't pictured, but I got Hot Red.

Saturday night I went out with some friends for a few drinks & my friend Amanda gave me a depot of her Sugarpill Asteria.

It's SOOOOO PRETTY!!!!

Then Sunday I went to Michaels and got some crafting scissors for tape/nail art and some brush soap for my makeup brushes.(forgot to take pics)

Now here's some quick pics of my nails.  Please ignore the growth as I did them Friday and forgot to take pics until now(with my phone).  I did one coat of OPI Fly and 1 coat of Orly Sparkling Garbage.

I definitely plan to find a backup of Sparkling Garbage.

I also received some sample baggies of shadows from MakeUp Zombie aka Wendi, and forgot to take a picture of those.  They're so pretty too.

Like I said, it was a pretty chill weekend.  I did get some monies, which I used to purchase some of the items above & the rest I'm saving for Black Friday sales.  I do have some Candii Blossom Cosmetics shadows on order too since they already have their sale going on.

Red Jelly Sammich!!! GO DAWGS!

Earlier today I showed y'all Ouqian #79.  Now I just had to make a jelly sammich with it.

So, below I used 2 coats of NYX Dorothy on my middle & ring fingers over top of my previous mani.  It's a black based jelly with small red & red hex glitters.  It's been said that Dorothy is a dupe of Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers.  I don't have the DL, but this is good enough for me. :D

Then I layered another coat of 79 over top of Dorothy.

It just evens it out.  I absolutely LOVE it.

NYX Sweetest Pink

This is another one where (I think) my camera captured it slightly darker than what it actually is.  Sweetest Pink is a light baby pink cream.  Upon looking at swatches for this, I found NYX has a lipstick named Sweet Pink which I absolutely NEED.

I used 2 coats and no top coat.  Amazing shine.

I picked this up at a beauty supply store, but you can find it on CherryCulture & I'm sure on a few other websites.  I love the NYX polishes I've used so far. :D

My Beachy Vacation Mani

While I'm waiting on my mani to dry, so I can do the other hand & finish packing, I'm going to get this post up :D.  BTW, I'm typing this up Thursday night to post tomorrow, Friday. I totally fail, I went to take pictures with my camera & realized I left it on for the past 2 days.  My battery is currently charging & I don't have time to wait.....so I did camera phone shots.

I started out with 1 coat of OPI Nail Envy, 1 coat of Orly Bonder, 2 coats of Deborah Lippmann On The Beach......then on my accent(ring finger) applied 1 coat of Pretty & Polished Sand Art, 2 coats of Gelous & topped it with China Glaze Fast Forward top coat.  On the rest of my nails I sponged (from nail bed to tip): OPI Fly, China Glaze Shower Together(which I think I have scheduled next week), China Glaze Sexy In The City,  & China Glaze Frostbite...then I topped those nails with a thin coat of NYX Girls Sea Of Cortez, a coat of Gelous & topped with China Glaze Fast Forward.

WoW, that's a LOT.  I was originally just going to do OTB & Sand Art, but while doing some swatching, I kinda tested the gradient out on a nail wheel & fell in love.  I honestly can't stop staring at my nails.

With this as my mani & a pedi(not pictured) inspired by Anne at Southern Sister Polish....I'm gonna be rocking some major polish.  At least 7 diff colors on both. :D

Y'all be sure to check out my posts while I'm gone.  I have some amazing guest posts lined up as well as some of my own.  Now I must go finish packing, shave my legs, and do my other hand so I can get some rest as we leave tomorrow to stay with my brother before we leave Saturday morning for the beach.

P.S.  I'm totally geeking that when I posted this in a make-up group I'm in, Phyrra commented & said the main nails were gorgeous!

Fail Friday - Green Water Marble

I dunno if Fail Friday will be back permanently, but I had this & just went with it.

I've had pretty bad results with water marbling.  They're getting better, but I STILL can't figure out how I'm getting bubbles.  I think once I get that and what polishes will work down I'll be much better at this.

Here's what I used:  Zoya Shawn, China Glaze Trendsetter, Sally Hansen Yellow Kitty, & NYX Girls Hunter Green.  I also used a green shimmer on my index & middle fingers, but I can't remember which one.

See what I mean about the bubbles?  My TC smudged my index, I didn't like the way the shimmer looked on my middle finger so I stopped using it.  I dipped my ring & pinky fingers at the same time which is why my ring finger doesn't really look marbled.

I think I'll try this combo again once I figure out the bubble culprit as I like these colors together.

What do y'all think???

NYX Girls Hunter Green + Maven Mani - Pic spam

This mani was the result of not wanting to go out with naked nails last weekend & using random.org to decide what to wear.  I wore this up until Monday night which is a long time for me.  I had to do this in a hurry because my friends 2 year old daughter wanted pics ASAP.  She was drooling over the colors.

I started off with NYX Girls Hunter Green, which I really only got because of my sons name.  I did 2 coats, though I probably could've just used 1.  Then I topped it with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.  It's a deep olive-y/army/murky/dusty green which I really like.

how dark & vampy it can look

Because I'd already had the idea, I used 1 coat of NYX Girls Maven.  Maven is a turquoise jelly base with green & blue glitters.  Luckily, it didn't alter the base color one bit.  Here's what it looked like with a top coat of SH Insta-Dri.

Blurred to show the sparkle.

I really like this.  What do y'all think?

NYX Girls Moonwalk

If you follow me on Twitter, you know I recently had a MAJOR computer crash.  I've NEVER had that problem.  I clicked a link on Twitter and it practically killed my PC.  Fortunately, the friend who built it fixed it, but I still have some things that are missing.  SO.....while I try to figure things out on that end, please enjoy this previously drafted post.

I'm so glad I got this polish.  Luckily I've been able to find the ones I have for $0.99....other than one I purchased from BeautyJoint.com.

Moonwalk is what I guess you would call a foil finish.  It's like a metallic + a frost.  The color itself is a silver with a slight purple/lilac tint.  It wasn't really difficult for me to apply, but it didn't really turn out how I wanted it.  This is my first foil polish.

All pics are 2 coats of Moonwalk with 1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.  Now I'm wondering if this would work well as a stamping polish.

TOODLES Y'ALL!!!
