Dr's Remedy Gender Neutrals for Breast Cancer Awareness

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  Dr's Remedy has teamed up with Living Beyond Breast Cancer, an organization whose mission is to empower all women affected by breast cancer to live as long as possible with the best quality of life. During the month of October Dr's Remedy is tickled pink to donate proceeds from the sale of this collection to LBBC.

This set is a trio.  There are 2 sheer creams that can be worn sheer or built up/layered for a more opaque look and then there's a matte top coat(which can also be worn alone).

LOYAL Linen - Loyal is a sheer basic nude that almost pulls a little pink.  I used 3 coats for this opacity & used a white polish on the tip of my ring finger to show how it looks over that color.

Now here is Loyal with the Modest Matte top coat.  Because Loyal is a cream, Modest makes this look almost like a rubber finish.  It also looks almost white.  I think I actually like it better matte.

PROMISING Pink  - Promising is a sheer creamy light pink that neutralizes yellow tones.  This also required 3 coats for the opacity shown & I used a white polish on the tip of my ring finger.

Here is Promising with Modest Matte top coat.  It's so pretty.

Dr's Remedy is a podiatrist-formulated line of nail care products that provide a more natural alternative to traditional formulas.  They're enriched with things that are good for you and have none of the bad stuff.

Even the back of the bottle says "Take comfort in knowing you no longer have to sacrifice beauty for health and well-being.  Both of the colors are vegan friendly, not sure about the top coat.

These are available at www.remedynails.com

Pink Gradient for Breast Cancer Awareness Pt. 2

So if you checked out my post earlier, you'll see I've done a mani for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  When I said I've added to it, I bed y'all thought I was stamping over it, huh?  Nope, I didn't want to ruin the beauty and I most certainly would jack it up somehow.

So what did I do?  I used my Butter London Matte Finish top coat that I recently got from Coterie when they opened.

Just in case you didn't see my earlier post, the colors are (base to tip) KleanColor Sheer Pastel Pink, Wet N Wild Candy-licious, and Dr's Remedy Hopeful.

This matte top coat is different from any other matte I've ever used.  It's slightly thicker and takes a tad longer to turn matte.  However, the result is WAY BETTER, in my opinion, than any other matte top coat I've used also.  It's amazeballz.  I'm sure I'll be using it like CRAZY too.

Pink Gradient for Breast Cancer Awareness

I haven't done any awareness mani's in a while & finally sat down to do one.  I let my kiddo pick the colors out for this one and I think he did a great job.

KleanColor Sheer Pastel Pink(which I showed by itself yesterday), Wet N Wild Candy-licious(I think he just liked the name of this), and Dr's Remedy Hopeful.

I started off with 2 coats of Sheer Pastel Pink, sponged on a little bit of Candy-licious on about 2/3 of the nail, then sponged Hopeful on the top 1/3 of my nail.  Cleaned it up and topped it off with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

The subtle transition between these shades is perfect.  I think my son did an amazing job with his shade choices.  I think I've mentioned this before, but when doing a sponging mani, I always take a lip balm & rub it around the nail bed on the skin to make clean-up easier.  Otherwise I end up staining my skin like crazy.

Make sure to check in later as I took this one step further.

Dr.'s Remedy Grateful & a stringy mani

Today I have the last of the Dr.'s Remedy summer trio to show you.  Grateful is amazing and probably my favorite of the 3.  Then again I'm totally addicted to purples.

I'll show you the nail art first.  I've wanted to try some new techniques and found this stringy mani on Pinterest.

I started with a base coat of Grateful then followed the instructions on the link I posted above.

From tip to base(or bottom to top of the pic):
  •  Grateful
  • Grateful + Hopeful mixed
  • Hopeful
  • Hopeful + Youthful mixed
  • Youthful
This was relatively easy to do.  I just dipped out drops onto a laminated card & swirled the polish around with a dotting tool until it became stringy then sorta dragged it over each nail.  You can see on my pinky that I goofed and tried to apply a top coat to my pinky right before taking pictures.  Other than that, I really love this mani & I'll definitely be trying it again with different color combos.

Now I'll show you the base color, Grateful, by itself....

Above is 2 coats of Grateful with a top coat(I think).  This is totally a 1 coater, but I goofed and needed 2.  I also had bubbles with this due to my forgetting the ceiling fan nearby.  The last pic I took with flash to show the subtle shimmer in this polish.  It's a beautiful grape shade that looked blue on my camera, but fortunately did photograph purple for me.  So I didn't have to color correct anything.

Dr.'s Remedy says "GRATEFUL Grape: Move over Jolly Rancher, this take on grape has sizzle, shine and a touch of shimmer."

I don't think this is like any other purple that I own and I love it.

Dr.'s Remedy Hopeful & a sponge gradient mani

Yesterday I started off showing y'all the summer trio from Dr.'s Remedy with Youthful.  Today I have Hopeful.  I'm going to start with the polish itself as my nail art attempt was a fail IMO.

Above I used 2 coats and no top coat.  I put this on my toes the other day and I'm totally in LOVE.  It's like a Barbie/bubblegum pink.  The first coat was sheer, almost like a jelly but it's a cream.

Dr.'s Remedy says "HOPEFUL Hot Pink: Hello Kitty never had it so good; this shade of pink is ever gal's new best pal, no doubt."

I had bubbles with this one too(forgot about the ceiling fan), but they're subtle.

NOW, to the fail art.  I wanted to try the wet sponge gradient mani's I've seen all over Pinterest & some of the other blogs, but it didn't turn out too well for me.  I think next time I'll stick with the dry sponge.

I wet a make-up sponge and brushed Grateful, then Youthful, then Hopeful and rolled it onto my nails.  As you'll see with my index finger, I forgot to look at the placement.  I did use a top coat, but it didn't blend it out much.  I almost forgot the tip I have for this mani.  I took a lip balm stick and rubbed it around my nail onto my fingers so that clean-up would be easier and it worked like a charm.

Dr.'s Remedy Youthful & a Straw mani

I have 3 beautiful polishes from Dr.'s Remedy to show you.  They are all from their 2012 Step Into Summer collection.  Today I'm going to start with Youthful.

First, let me show you some nail art I did with this.  I used Youthful as the base color then applied Grateful & Hopeful with the end of a straw.  I got the idea from Pinterest, though I'm not sure who originally did this.

I did goof a little bit, but it's still cute and I love it.  Wasn't difficult to do at all.

Now to the pretty base color....

This is 2 coats of Youthful with a top coat.  I would describe this as a buttercream yellow.

Dr.'s Remedy says "YOUTHFUL Yellow:  A hue of banana-meets-lemon with here-comes-the-sun subtlety, this shade is matte, marvelous and magical."

I think it was more satin than matte.  I did have some bubbling issues, but that was because I completely forgot about the ceiling fan about 12 feet away from me.  BUT, my top coat took care of covering them up.  It sort of reminds me of a yellow that I already own, except this one is GOOD FOR YOU!  I'm not a HUGE fan of yellow, but I have a feeling this one will be my next pedicure color.
