Winter-y Grey & Wine Nail Art

Hey y'all!  Today I have a recent mani that I did & wore for a few weeks.  I wanted something winter-y, but not completely dark and drab.  So this is what I came up with.

This was super easy to do, and of course I added a little sparkle as well.  Per the usual, I used Seche Vite as my top coat.

China Glaze - Rebel - Fall 2016

**Press Sample**

Hey y'all!  Today I finally have the fall collection ready to show y'all.  Rebel was inspired by the 90's and has an interesting mix of shades and finishes.  Not to mention the names.  Half the time, some of us will purchase polishes just for the name itself.  So I'm going to get right to it, and as usual I used Seche Vite as my top coat.

I have some mixed feelings on this collection.  I definitely have some favorites though.

china glaze rebel swatches review fresh prince-ss
Fresh Prince-ss - 2 coats - Baby doll dress pink creme - Pastel pink cream.  Easy to apply and pretty, but this makes me think spring rather than fall.

china glaze rebel swatches review dope taupe

china glaze rebel swatches review dope taupe
Dope Taupe - 2 coats - Almond taupe cream - This looks more grey-ish purple taupe to me.  I used this as a base color for my Halloween mani and it worked well.  I don't really think fall with this shade either, but I like it.

china glaze rebel swatches review pearl jammin

china glaze rebel swatches review pearl jammin
Pearl Jammin - 3 coats - Chic gray opalescent - This looks more blue based opalescent to me.  It's super sheer with a rosey gold shimmer. It would be better layered over a base.

china glaze rebel swatches review y'all red-y for this

china glaze rebel swatches review y'all red-y for this
Y'all Red-y For This - 2 coats - Red shimmer - This is a pretty opaque red with pink shimmers.  It could easily be a 1 coat application.

china glaze rebel swatches review jagged little teal

china glaze rebel swatches review jagged little teal
Jagged Little Teal - 2 coats - Vampy teal creme - My camera picked up more of the blue in this than the green, but this is a dusky blue toned teal cream.

china glaze rebel swatches review combat blue-ts

china glaze rebel swatches review combat blue-ts
Combat Blue-ts - 2 coats - Bad ass matte blue - A matte cobalt blue with shimmer.  Application on this is definitely more tricky than any matte I've used before.  When left matte, the shimmer is hidden.  It's only when you apply a top coat that the shimmer appears.  I really like this one both ways.

china glaze rebel swatches review combat blue-ts holo at ya girl

china glaze rebel swatches review combat blue-ts holo at ya girl
Holo At Ya Girl - 3 coats - green-gold holographic glitter - I did 1 coat over Combat Blue-ts and 3 coats alone on my ring finger.  Sadly I didn't use the glitter sponge application for this so that may have cut the amount used down.  It's a clear base, but the glitters look more gold with a green/blue. I see nothing holographic about them either.  Definitely not a favorite.

china glaze rebel swatches review purple fiction

china glaze rebel swatches review purple fiction
Purple Fiction - 2 coats - Royal metallic plum - Definitely a metallic purple, but there's some purple/pink shimmer in there to give it something else.  Love it, and of course the name too.

china glaze rebel swatches review heroine chic

china glaze rebel swatches review heroine chic
Heroine Chic - 2 coats - sultry chocolate creme with flecks of red shimmer - I definitely don't see chocolate creme in this, or red.  To me, it looks more like a charcoal brown with pink flecks of shimmer.  Maybe it's just me?

china glaze rebel swatches review don't mesh with me

china glaze rebel swatches review don't mesh with me
Don't Mesh With Me - 4 coats - Lavender shimmer - This is a clear base full of just purple and pink shimmers.  It's almost like a duochrome shimmer & would look great layered over something else.

china glaze rebel swatches review blue-ya

china glaze rebel swatches review blue-ya
Blue-Ya! - 2 coats - Sapphire blue shimmer - This has that deep cobalt blue jelly-like base full of blue & teal green shimmer.  The shimmer sticks out a little more in person.

china glaze rebel swatches review teen spirit

china glaze rebel swatches review teen spirit
Teen Spirit - 2 coats - Deep inky blue-black with metallic flecks - This looks more, to me, like a deep, almost black, purple base with purple, blue, and maybe some pink shimmers in there.  It was definitely hard to photograph.

I think Combat Blue-ts and Purple Fiction are my 2 fav's.  What about you?

Bloody Zombie!

Hey y'all!  Today I have a Halloween zombie mani to share with you.

china glaze great outdoors bloody zombie nails

I've been seeing LOTS of Facebook pages sharing a mani that my friend Sarah of Samarium's Swatches did, which you can see HERE. And when I was swatching the Great Outdoors collection from China Glaze, I just had to do my own little take on it.

These first 3 shots are matte & glossy....

While the next 3 are fully glossy...

The base of this mani is Change Your Altitude. Over top of that I just used my craft brush to drybrush My Lodge or Yours? and Take A Hike, then applied a matte top coat(I used Butter London).

The blood drips and splatter was done with the shade Free Bear Hugs.

I like this so much that I actually want to do it again. :D

China Glaze - The Great Outdoors - Fall 2015

*Press Sample*

Hey y'all!  Today I have the fall collection from China Glaze to show ya.  This is another post that I THOUGHT I had already done, so again I win the fail blogger award.  So, without blabbering on, lets get to it.

This collection contains 12 shades with various different finishes.  There are creams, duochromes, shimmers, and a glitter.  As usual, I used Seche Vite as my top coat for all of these.

Change Your Altitude - 2 coats - This is described as a pebble greige cream.  It has almost a purple tinge to it.

Cabin Fever - 3 coats - This is described as a pink to copper duochrome.  It's like a rosey/mustard.

Check Out The Silver Fox - 2 coats - This is described as a metallic gunmetal gray.  The finish is a chrome micro-shimmer.  The flare from the light sorta makes this difficult to photograph.  The name makes me think of Gibbs from NCIS.

Free Bear Hugs - 2 coats - This is described as a deep black red cream.  It's like a wine blood.  Super vampy & one of my favorite types of shades for fall.

Gone Glamping - 3 coats - This is described as a green to gold duochrome.  Pretty accurate, though I did notice a slight blue/teal shift also that the camera didn't pick up.

Let's Dew It - 1 coat - Over Change Your Altitude - This is described as a multi-dimensional blue gray glitter.  It almost looks like it has purple, blue, and silver in it.  It's pretty packed too.

My Lodge or Yours - 2 coats - This is described as a natural mauve cream, which is basically what I noted when I swatched this. :D

Pondering - 3 coats - This is described as a deep amethyst duochrome.  I noted it as a blue/purple/green multichrome.  Definitely one of my fav's.

Sleeping Under The Stars - 2 coats - This is described as a dark blue with stardust shimmer.  I see this more as a blurple (you know, blue and purple) with pink micro-shimmer.  It's a little difficult to photograph, and capture the shimmer....but you can see it in the bottle.

S'More Fun - 2 coats - This is described as an adventurous lemon lime cream.  I can agree with that....though I'm not sure how I feel not only about the shade itself(yanno considering it's not a fall type of color), but the name as well.  I think more cream/brown/neutrals when I think of S'mores.

Take A Hike - 2 coats - This is described as a rich mossy green cream.  I would almost describe this as a highly green based teal with a slight bit of gray in it.

china glaze the great outdoors wood you wanna review swatches

china glaze the great outdoors wood you wanna review swatches

china glaze the great outdoors wood you wanna review swatches
Wood You Wanna? - 2 coats - This is described as a rich brown burgundy metallic.  It's like a chocolate-y bronze chrome micro-shimmer with a slight purple-ish tinge to it.

The creams were easy to apply in just 2 coats, as were most of the rest.  With the duochromes, I'd suggest layering them over a darker(similar) shade or maybe even a black to cut down on the coats needed for opacity.

I would have to say that my fav's are DEFINITELY Free Bear Hugs, Pondering, Cabin Fever, Sleeping Under The stars, and Take A Hike.   Which ones do you like?

In addition to open stock colours, China Glaze®The Great Outdoors also includes two kits, theWood You Wanna? 6-piece set and Happy Campers 6-piece Micro Mini Kit.

China Glaze® is also offering a nail design kit, On the Hunt Camo Mani Design Kit, which includes three shades from the collection and a black Stripe Rite liner to create a camouflage nail design to make sure your nails do anything but blend in to the background.

China Glaze® The Great Outdoors will be available in August 2015 at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply, as well as fine salons.  MSRP $7.50 for individual shades.
