How old were you when you got into makeup?
This is one that I have several answers to. I started doing make-up probably around the age of 12 or so. Though not often because I played softball and basketball. Then in high school I always did my make-up, but pretty much only wore neutral colors because of ROTC. Even then I did occasionally do the black lipstick thing or whatever.
Then later on into my late teens/early 20's I still pretty much wore neutral colors. I only had black eyeliner then because of the whole dark/black lip liner thing.
I really didn't start getting into color make-up until the past 3-4 years. Before then, I started getting into Bare Escentuals, but only the past few years have I started wearing more color than just neutral stuff. In fact, I only recently started being comfortable with pink lipstick.
So I guess the final answer to this question would be in my 30's.

It was somewhat gradual for me too...or, shall I say, my love of makeup evolved. :)
